Plant Description
  • Species: Drosera
  • Drosera Binata, originating from Australia, grows long stems with forked (V-shaped) leaves that turn vivid red under adequate sunlight.  These leaves give Drosera Binata the nickname - the fork-leaved sundew
  • Binata var. dichotoma T-form is a small, red, forkleaf sundew which usually develops 2 points per leaf, covered in small tentacles with sticky glue droplets to lure and digest insects
  • Bite-size info:

    • 📅 Temperate. Dormant in winter
    • 🌱 Mature size: 10-20cm

Bareroot or potted?
  • We recommend sundews as potted plants for beginner carnivorous plant enthusiasts - simply unwrap, water and enjoy!  Potted plants are sent with a protective covering and will be good in this soil for another 6-9 months.  Planter sizes are selected in relation to plant size and range from 5cm to 10cm pots unless otherwise mentioned
  • Bare root plants are for those who wish to pot up and acclimatise their own plants.  Sundews generally have very fragile roots and may take a while to settle in.  Bareroot plants are rinsed and sent in a protective covering with roots wrapped in damp paper towels

Plant care & special considerations
  • 🏡 Grow in a frost free area outdoors or terrarium with 12-16 hours artificial (full spectrum) lighting
  • ☀️ Requires a minimum 8 hours direct sunlight
  • 💧 Moist, nutrient-free soil (rain or distilled water)
  • 🍴 No need to feed
  • 🌷 Cut flowerstalks for a healthier, dewy plant
  • 💤 Summer growing.  Completely dormant during winter
  • ✅ Detailed care information is available in our online reference guide and the weblink is included with your purchase

Special considerations:

  • Drosera Binata will enter dormancy during winter (cooler temperatures and a shorter daylight period)
  • During the dormancy period this plant will die back to a single winter bud and new growth will emerge late spring to early summer (around October-November)
  • While dormant - water your plant less frequently (keep the growing media only damp) to prevent root rot

Beautiful but deadly...

Thank you for my Forkleaf Sundew. What a dainty, yet highly effective killing machine. 😂 I had barely unpacked it and it caught its first mosquito.
Thank you once again for your amazing service.
