SUNDEW: Drosera Capensis (Cape Sundew), Red form
- Species: Drosera
- The red variety of the Cape sundew (octopus plant) is a truly remarkable plant. During summer it has colourful tentacles and produces dark pink flowers
- Each tentacle has a small droplet of glistening mucilage. Insects become stuck to the tentacles and are then digested by the plant
- This is a fantastic plant that changes colour as the season progresses ranging from green to a tantalising rosegold to red
- To maintain this level of redness, you will need to grow this plant in full sun conditions
- In fall and winter, its leaves lose some of its redness, but it perks up again in spring and summer when light levels are stronger
- While the other varieties of Cape sundews prefer bright and cool conditions, this variety prefers bright and warm conditions
- Cape Sundews are easy growers and highly recommended for beginner carnivorous plant enthusiasts
- Whether you prefer starting off with a younger plant and watch it grow into full majestic glory over the years or jumping in with more munch, right from the get go, we've got you covered! Cultivo is all about choices and our plants are available in various sizes and options to suit your every need. These are medium to near-flowering size plants, sold either bareroot or already potted in our deluxe carnivorous plant soil to take the hassle out of repotting. Simply unwrap, water and enjoy!

- Cape Sundews do not require a dormancy period and will grow throughout the year
- Unlike most of the other Cape Sundews - this variety prefers bright and warm conditions
- In fall and winter, the red cape sundew variety will lose some of its redness, but will colour up again in spring and summer when light levels are stronger
- Flowering requires a lot of energy and might cause your plant to lose it's dew - Cut flower stalks when they emerge for a healthier, dewy plant

Delivery was super fast and my plants were packed with care to ensue their safety. Included was a hand written note from Therese with instructions on how to care for my plants. I highly recommend getting all of your carnivorous plants and goods from Cultivo Carnivores.
Thank you so much for delivering such a beautiful carni to add to my collection. Shipping was quick and efficient and I had amazing service. Thank you Theresa
Being new to keeping CPs, i had a lot of questions and Theresa was more than accommodating. She gave me ample information while at her place and even directed me to youtube channels where i could learn more. As such, i not only purchased a sundew but also while there, i purchased a nepenthes. The quality of both plants BTW is amazing - she really cares for her plants.
Plant is flourishing & has settled well. We have the perfect place for it in a a north west point in the home.
