If the Cape Sundew is the charming compact one, the Forkleaf Sundew is its dramatic, architectural sibling. Drosera binata is an Australian native with tall, forked leaves that reach upward like outstretched hands — every surface covered in glistening, jewel-like dew that sparkles in the light and traps anything that lands on it. It's one of the most visually striking sundews on the planet, and it's surprisingly easy to grow.

Each leaf forks into two (or more) arms, all covered in sticky tentacles tipped with dew. Flies, gnats and midges are lured in by the sparkle, land, and can't escape. The tentacles slowly curl around the prey and digest it — all while looking absolutely gorgeous doing it. It's like having a living sculpture that also catches bugs.

My plant has no leaves in winter — is it dead?
No! Forkleaf Sundews naturally die back to a small winter bud during dormancy. This is essential for their health. Keep the soil damp and wait — they come back strong in spring.

Can I skip dormancy?
No — dormancy is essential for long-term health. Without a winter rest, plants weaken and eventually die. Embrace the seasonal cycle!

Can I use tap water?
No — tap water contains minerals that will harm carnivorous plants over time. Always use rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis (low-mineral) water.

Can I grow it indoors?
Forkleaf Sundews are best grown outdoors in full sun. They can also thrive in terrariums with full-spectrum LED grow lights — but outdoor growing produces the most vigorous plants.

How big will it get?
Mature Forkleaf Sundews can reach 15–25 cm tall during peak growing season, with multiple forked leaves creating a dramatic display.
