LECA Clay Pellets – Expanded Clay for Terrariums, Hydroponics & Drainage

These lightweight, expanded clay pellets (LECA) are a must-have growing medium for plant lovers, terrarium builders, and hydroponic growers. Whether you're layering the base of a carnivorous plant terrarium or setting up a semi-hydro system for orchids and houseplants, LECA offers excellent drainage and root aeration.

✔️ Expanded clay = Better root health
LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) is inert, pH neutral, and reusable. It absorbs just enough water to keep roots happy while preventing rot and compaction. It's a great alternative to perlite or silica sand in mixes where root rot or compaction is a concern.

✔️ Perfect for terrariums & bog setups
Use as a drainage layer in carnivorous plant displays, especially for species like Venus flytraps, sundews, Nepenthes, butterworts, sun pitchers, albany pitcher plants, cobra lilies and other delicate-rooted plants. Also suitable for sunny patio setups and mini paludariums.

✔️ Great for semi-hydro & hydroponics
Popular for orchids, houseplants and aquascaping. LECA is reusable, easy to clean and safe for use with fish and shrimp in aquaponic systems.

Sizes: Choose from 4–9mm (standard) or 9–16mm (chunky).
Packaging: Resealable pouches, perfect for small projects or starter kits.

💡 Each resealable packet holds approx. 260–280ml of LECA — about the size of a standard coffee mug or a small measuring cup

Disclaimer
  • Just a quick heads-up: Since plants are natural products, you might notice some slight variations when unboxing your plants
  • We do our best to make sure the plants you receive look like the ones in the photos, but keep in mind that seasons change and plants grow. Some leaves might age and die off, new ones might sprout and the plants may look a bit different over time
  • 99% of what we sell are one-of-a-kind collector items, so you will receive the exact plant pictured. The labels are spot on, so even if the plant looks a bit different, we 100% guarantee it's the real deal
  • Also, all the photos you see are of our own plants unless we mention otherwise. We update images occasionally to keep things fresh. If you want to see updated pictures before you buy, just let us know – we're happy to help!
