Product Details

Utricularia nephrophylla (White Flower – Serra dos Órgãos, Brazil) is a rare and elegant bladderwort from the highlands of southeastern Brazil. This particular form, originating from Serra dos Órgãos, produces upright stalks of delicate white flowers with soft yellow markings — a striking contrast to the typical violet blooms of the species.

In the wild, this species grows among mossy rocks and cliff faces in high-elevation cloud forests, where it enjoys cool, humid conditions and bright filtered light. In cultivation, it thrives in terrariums, moss trays, or shaded setups with good airflow and consistent moisture.

Although U. nephrophylla is fully carnivorous — using hidden underground traps to catch and digest microscopic prey — it is most admired for its refined floral display. The white-flowered form is exceptionally rare and adds a soft, elegant touch to any carnivorous plant collection.

This is a genuine BCP collector’s variety, personally imported and grown out at Cultivo. You'll receive a healthy 2-4cm plug, fully rooted and ready to pot up in your carnivorous setup.

🪴 Growing Tips & Care Info

  • 🔆 Bright filtered light or semi-shade (avoid harsh sun)
  • 🌿 High humidity preferred – ideal for terrariums or moss trays
  • 🪴 Pot into Bladderwort PROmix™ or moist shredded sphagnum moss
  • 💧 Keep the soil consistently moist – never allow it to dry out
  • 💦 Tray method: 0.5–1cm of rainwater, RO, or distilled water

Given the right conditions, this location form will slowly spread and flower reliably during the warmer months.

🌸 Flowering Info

This Serra dos Órgãos form of Utricularia nephrophylla blooms in spring and summer with clean white petals and subtle yellow detail. Flowers are light and graceful — and do not deplete the plant’s energy.

This plant was personally imported from Best Carnivorous Plants (BCP), from the Serra dos Órgãos population, and grown out at Cultivo. Fully acclimatised to South African conditions and offered in very limited numbers.

White-flowered bladderworts with location data are rarely offered in South Africa. This is a true collector’s specimen, and a rare opportunity to add a region-specific form to your Utric collection.
