Sarracenia purpurea 'Ewelina'
A distinctive collector clone admired for its rich burgundy pitchers, elongated shape and elegant pointed lids. Originally imported from Europe and grown on in our own collection, this established rooted division is fully acclimatised to South African conditions.
Unlike many purple pitcher plants that develop broad, squat pitchers, Ewelina produces more elongated traps with exceptional colour and character. Hardy, vigorous and easy to grow, it combines genuine collector appeal with the forgiving nature that makes Sarracenia purpurea such a rewarding species.

Shipped bareroot — the collector's way
This plant ships bareroot with roots wrapped in moist sphagnum moss. During winter dormancy, older pitchers may be trimmed back as part of normal seasonal maintenance. New growth returns naturally when active growth resumes in spring.
Growing notes
An easy-growing outdoor carnivorous plant that performs best in full sun with consistently wet conditions. Like all Sarracenia, Ewelina catches its own insects and rewards strong light with the richest colouration.
This clone is equally at home in a bog planter, water tray setup or dedicated carnivorous plant collection. Growth slows naturally during winter before resuming strongly in spring.
Winter dormancy
Like all Sarracenia, Ewelina requires a natural winter rest each year. During autumn and winter, pitchers may brown, collapse or be trimmed back while the plant conserves energy for the next growing season.

Quick FAQ
What size plant will I receive?
This is a WYSIWYG listing — the exact plant photographed is the one you'll receive. The plant measures approximately 10cm across and is currently in winter rest.
Is this a beginner-friendly Sarracenia?
Yes. Despite being a collector clone, Ewelina is hardy, vigorous and easy to grow when given full sun and pure water.
Why are the pitchers trimmed?
During winter dormancy, older pitchers naturally brown and die back. We remove tired or damaged growth before shipping so the plant arrives clean, tidy and ready for the upcoming growing season. Strong new pitchers emerge naturally during spring and summer growth.
Why does it ship bareroot?
Bareroot shipping reduces transit stress, protects the root system and allows you to pot the plant directly into your preferred growing setup upon arrival.
Can I only buy one?
Yes. This is a once-off collector listing featuring the exact plant shown in the photographs.
