This listing features an individually prepared plug of Utricularia aff. livida (Marojey, Madagascar) — a rare and unusual terrestrial bladderwort with elegant white and purple flowers around 5mm in size. Native to the highlands of Madagascar, this clone is closely related to Utricularia livida, but shows distinct bicolour blooms and a compact growth habit.

Bladderworts like this are true carnivorous plants — they use tiny underground suction traps to catch and digest microscopic prey. While the carnivory happens below the surface, most growers keep these plants for their delicate, orchid-like flowers, which appear during the warmer months.

This specimen comes from our original import batch from Best Carnivorous Plants (Czech Republic) and is fully acclimatised. You'll receive the exact plant pictured, delivered as a well-established rooted plug ready to pot up and grow out in your own carnivorous setup.

• 🔆 Grows best in semi-shade or bright filtered light
• 🌿 Ideal for carnivorous plant bog gardens or as a standalone species

• 💧 Keep moist at all times — do not allow the soil to dry out
• 💦 Tray method: stand pot in 0.5–1cm of rain, RO, or distilled water

🌸 Flowering Info

Utricularia aff. livida from this locality typically blooms in spring and summer. The white and purple bicolour flowers stand out beautifully against the mossy base — and flowering won’t weaken the plant, so it can be allowed to bloom freely.

This plant is part of our original import from BCP and has been carefully grown out at Cultivo. Fully acclimatised to South African conditions, it’s ready to settle in and grow well in your setup.

Bladderworts remain uncommon in local collections due to import restrictions. This exact plug is a one-off release and is rarely available at this size and quality.
