❓❗ What are Cultivo’s Rootball Plugs™ — and why are they so awesome?

Therese from Cultivo Carnivores with seed-grown Venus flytraps — expert-grown plants now available in Rootball Plugs™ for easy, stress-free transplanting

💬 Instead of using full plastic pots, some of my plants come pre-rooted in our neat little Rootball Plugs™ – specially formulated soil blocks designed by Cultivo for carnivorous plants, making transplanting easy and shipping stress-free

They’re ideal for:

Beginners – Perfect if you're nervous about transplanting, repotting or doing it wrong. No risk of planting too deep or damaging roots — just unwrap and pop it in!
Couriers – Rootball Plugs™ are lighter than pots and more secure than loose soil, meaning lower shipping rates and less risk of damage to your plants during transit
✅ Terrariums and savage gardens – Simply pop the plug straight into your setup with no extra prep
Seedlings and plants with fragile roots – Plugs keep roots stable and protected, reducing transplant shock
✅ Finicky carnivorous plant species – Especially those that dislike root disturbance, like sundews, cephalotus and cobra lilies
✅ Growers using their own pots or soil – Just plug and plant into your preferred mix or container

Not bareroot, not potted — this is honestly the best of both worlds. Just a pre-rooted plug & play solution, ready to grow with no root shock or acclimatisation needed

📦 Each plug is bubble-wrapped in moist paper towels and cushioned with firm casing to ensure safe delivery

Less stress - More success! Originally developed to lower shipping weight and limit transplant shock in bog gardens and terrarium setups, Cultivo’s Rootball Plugs™ have become a customer favourite for stress-free planting — especially with sensitive species. They’re a small touch that makes a big difference!

🎯 Plug. Plant. Done

How to plant a Rootball Plug™

Plants in Cultivo's nifty little Rootball Plugs™ are pre-rooted and fully prepped — all that’s left is for you to pop them into their forever home. Here's how:

  1. Prep your pot or planter with carnivorous plant soil
  2. Make a 2x2cm hole – just enough for the plug to nestle in
  3. Pop in the plug, making sure it’s level with the soil surface
  4. Water gently to settle it in… and you’re done!

That’s it! No root shock. No fiddly repotting. Just plug, water & watch it grow. Perfect for terrariums, travel-safe deliveries and sensitive carnivorous plant species that don’t like root disturbance
