Trumpet pitchers, purple pitchers and parrot pitchers naturally grow in nutrient-poor, permanently damp bogs where their roots remain cool, moist and free from mineral build-up. Too much organic matter, incorrect soil structure or mineral-rich water can quickly affect growth and pitcher production. PROmix Sarracenia™ is formulated around the moisture, drainage and root conditions these plants prefer, using a species-specific blend developed for Sarracenia species and hybrids and refined through years of growing pitcher plants in South African conditions. PROmix Sarracenia™ is made from high-quality imported ingredients, carefully selected for consistency and purity. Each batch is thoroughly washed to remove mineral residues and impurities before blending. The result is a stable growing medium that holds the moisture Sarracenia enjoy while providing improved drainage and airflow around the roots. The slightly heavier structure also helps provide additional stability for taller trumpet pitchers grown outdoors, especially in exposed growing areas.

When to Repot — and Why Fresh Mix Matters

Sarracenia benefit from repotting every 12–24 months, or sooner if the growing medium begins to compact or break down. Fresh soil improves drainage, reduces mineral build-up and provides the ideal environment for healthy root growth.

The best time to repot is during the winter dormancy period or just before active spring growth begins. This allows roots to establish quickly before the new season's pitchers emerge.
