Great stuff!

The water came packaged nicely, the bottles are nicely labled and the water itself is, according to my tds meter, very pure (Under 20 ppm). Grab a few with your purchase!

Pure, Low-Mineral Water for Healthier Carnivorous Plants

Carnivorous plants must be grown using pure, low-mineral water. Tap water, borehole water, and even filtered drinking water often contain salts and minerals that can build up in the soil and damage sensitive roots. For best results, always use collected rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis (RO) water.

💧 Why Reverse Osmosis (Purified) Water?

Reverse osmosis water, also known as purified water, is produced by filtering water through an ultra-fine membrane that removes up to 99% of impurities — including salts, minerals, and bacteria. The result is clean, mineral-free water that’s perfectly safe for all carnivorous plants. It’s a reliable and affordable alternative to distilled water, ideal for species such as Venus flytraps, sundews, pitcher plants, butterworts, and cobra lilies. Our reverse osmosis water typically measures below 20 PPM (parts per million) on a TDS meter — far purer than most bottled drinking water.

🚫 What Not to Use

Avoid regular bottled water, mineral water, or sparkling water — including retail brands such as aQuellé, Valpré, H2O to Go, BonAqua, and others. These types of bottled drinking water (for humans) contain added minerals and salts that can harm your carnivorous plants over time. Also note that battery water may contain sulphuric acid, which is toxic to plants. Always check the label carefully and choose only distilled water or reverse osmosis (RO) water with a TDS reading below 50 PPM to keep your plants healthy and safe.

💡 Did You Know?

Reverse osmosis is like osmosis in reverse — by applying pressure, water is pushed through a semi-permeable membrane that filters out contaminants while letting only pure H₂O molecules pass through. This makes it one of the most effective methods for producing clean, mineral-free water.

🌱 How to Water Carnivorous Plants

The easiest way to water most carnivorous plants is by using the Tray Method — simply place your pots in a shallow tray (about 1 cm deep) and keep a small amount of pure water (rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis) in the base. Allow the tray to dry out slightly before refilling. This keeps the soil evenly moist without becoming waterlogged.

You can also water from the top of the soil and allow the excess to drain away. This helps flush out any mineral buildup or impurities, keeping the soil fresh and healthy.

The goal is to keep the soil consistently moist — never bone-dry or sitting in deep water for too long. Some species, such as Nepenthes, Cephalotus, Mexican butterworts, and Drosophyllum, prefer their soil only slightly damp to the touch. Avoid leaving these plants standing in water for extended periods, as they are more prone to root rot.
