Paludariums – Combine land and water features for a dynamic display. Ideal for carnivorous plants that love humidity, plus mosses and aquatic elements.
Pings-on-Rocks & Mounted Displays – Create artistic living sculptures by mounting Mexican butterworts (Pinguicula) or mini orchids on cork bark, stones or driftwood. Perfect for terrariums or standalone features.

Quick Questions About Terrariums
What's the difference between a terrarium and a paludarium?
Terrariums are fully terrestrial setups with plants and soil. Paludariums include water features alongside land areas, creating a more dynamic ecosystem. Both work beautifully for carnivorous plants!
Can I grow carnivorous plants in a terrarium in South Africa?
Absolutely! Tropical species like Nepenthes (monkey cups), Mexican butterworts, sundews and bladderworts thrive in terrarium conditions. We'll guide you on which plants work best for closed vs open setups.
Do I need special soil for terrarium plants?
Yes. Regular potting soil will cause rot and mold. We recommend our PROmix™ carnivorous plant soil blends, live sphagnum moss, and proper drainage layers. Shop terrarium-safe soil →
How do I prevent mold in my terrarium?
Proper layering is key: drainage layer (LECA or stones), activated carbon barrier, then substrate. Live sphagnum moss has natural anti-fungal properties. Avoid overwatering and ensure some air circulation for closed terrariums.
Do you offer terrarium workshops or help with setup?
Yes! We offer group workshops, private 1:1 coaching sessions, complete DIY kits, and virtual consultations for orchid mounting. Browse our Workshops & Consultations collection →
