- At Cultivo, every release is carefully selected and grown with purpose. We don’t mass restock - most plants are small-batch, seasonal or one-of-a-kind “exact plant pictured” pieces. Once they’re sold, they’re truly gone. That’s why you won’t see a typical “email me when available” option on these listings
- Some seasonal items or small-batch variants may return in the future. If that happens, we’ll update the original listing with new photos and details

Utricularia livida (Lemon Flower, Zambia) is a hardy, easy-to-grow terrestrial bladderwort that thrives in warm, moist conditions. This rare yellow flower variant of the species forms semi-rounded leaves and, once established, sends up tall flower stalks with delicate lemon-yellow blooms around 0.5cm in size.
Bladderworts use tiny underground traps to catch and digest microscopic organisms like protozoa and nematodes. These bladders work like vacuum-powered traps — among the fastest in the carnivorous plant world!
Even though the carnivorous magic happens below the soil, Utricularia livida is grown and loved for its tiny, orchid-like flowers that brighten up any bog garden or carnivorous plant setup.
This is an original import from Best Carnivorous Plants in the Czech Republic. You’ll receive a 2cm plug – fully rooted and ready to pot up at home.
🪴 Growing Tips & Care Info
- 🔆 Grow in semi-shade or very bright light in a sheltered spot
- 🌿 Ideal for carnivorous plant bog setups or as a standalone plant
- 🪴 Use our Bladderwort PROmix™ or finely shredded, moist long-fibre sphagnum moss
- 💧 Always keep the soil moist – never let it dry out
- 💦 Use the tray method: stand the pot in 0.5–1cm of water (rain, RO, or distilled preferred)
- 🚿 Top watering is also fine — just avoid letting the soil dry
In the right conditions, your plant will start to spread and fill the container over the next few months. It’s an excellent option for beginners or collectors wanting to add colour to their setup.
🌸 Flowering Info
Utricularia livida typically flowers during the warmer months of spring and summer. The yellow blooms add a cheerful pop of colour — and unlike Venus flytraps or sundews, flowering won’t weaken the plant, so you can let it bloom freely.
Personally imported and grown out at Cultivo, this plant is fully acclimatised to South African conditions — making it easier to settle in, more resilient, and quick to take off once established.
Due to strict import regulations, bladderworts are still uncommon in South African collections. This plug comes from our original imported stock — and it's rarely available at this size and quality.
