- At Cultivo, every release is carefully selected and grown with purpose. We don’t mass restock - most plants are small-batch, seasonal or one-of-a-kind “exact plant pictured” pieces. Once they’re sold, they’re truly gone. That’s why you won’t see a typical “email me when available” option on these listings
- Some seasonal items or small-batch variants may return in the future. If that happens, we’ll update the original listing with new photos and details

Utricularia paulineae is a rare and lesser-known terrestrial bladderwort species, originally from Brazil. It produces small, rounded leaves and delicate, pale lilac to violet blooms on short stalks — a charming addition to any carnivorous plant collection.
As a true bladderwort, Utricularia paulineae uses tiny suction-trap bladders just below the soil surface to capture and digest microscopic prey such as protozoa and nematodes. While its carnivory happens underground, the real appeal lies in its soft floral display and easy-going nature.
This is an original import from Best Carnivorous Plants in the Czech Republic. You’ll receive a rooted 2cm plug, fully acclimatised and ready to pot up in your own carnivorous setup.
🪴 Growing Tips & Care Info
- 🔆 Grow in semi-shade or bright filtered light
- 🌿 Great for carnivorous plant bogs or as a standalone feature
- 🪴 Pot into Bladderwort PROmix™ or shredded long-fibre sphagnum moss
- 💧 Keep evenly moist – do not allow the soil to dry out
- 💦 Use tray method: stand pot in 0.5–1cm of rain, distilled or RO water
With the right care, this slow-spreading species will gradually fill the pot and reward you with its dainty blooms during the growing season.
🌸 Flowering Info
Utricularia paulineae typically flowers during spring and summer. Unlike Venus flytraps or sundews, flowering does not significantly weaken the plant — feel free to let it bloom freely!
Personally imported and grown out at Cultivo, this plant is fully acclimatised to South African conditions — making it stronger, more resilient, and quicker to grow than freshly imported stock.
Bladderworts like this remain rare in South African collections due to strict import restrictions. This is a special release from our original BCP import, and plants of this size and quality are rarely available.
