Will this be restocked?
  • At Cultivo, every release is carefully selected and grown with purpose. We don’t mass restock - most plants are small-batch, seasonal or one-of-a-kind “exact plant pictured” pieces. Once they’re sold, they’re truly gone. That’s why you won’t see a typical “email me when available” option on these listings
  • Some seasonal items or small-batch variants may return in the future. If that happens, we’ll update the original listing with new photos and details

🌸 Pinguicula ‘Marciano’ – Pink Mexican Butterwort

This little stunner is one of my personal favourites. Originally imported from Best Carnivorous Plants in the Czech Republic, this true collector-grade plant has been happily growing here for a while and is now fully settled in for South African conditions. It’s a mature, flowering-size butterwort and a brilliant candidate for anyone wanting to add a unique cultivar to their collection

💫 Highlights

• Exact plant pictured – You’ll receive the very same plant shown in the main photo – well-established, compact, and ready to go.
• Registered cultivar – ‘Marciano’ is a recognised hybrid between P. heterophylla × P. ‘Weser’, inheriting the best traits of both parents – rich colour from ‘Weser’ and a strong, compact shape from heterophylla.
• Why this plant will rock your world – The colour! In bright light the rosette turns an intense pink, almost glowing against the soil. Even out of bloom, it looks like a living flower.
• Perfect for – Anyone who wants a splash of colour in a terrarium, windowsill, or collector’s tray – it’s compact, tidy and always looks neat.
• Current size – Around 6 cm across – and that’s about as big as this cultivar gets. It keeps its petite shape even as a fully mature plant, which makes it perfect for terrariums and smaller displays.
• Growth cycle – In winter it forms a tight rosette of small, succulent leaves and often sends up its pretty pink flowers at the end of its resting phase. When the weather warms around November, it wakes up with larger, sticky leaves ready to feed again.
• Format – Sent bareroot, carefully wrapped for safe travel and ready to pot up in your preferred carnivorous plant mix or mount it in a terrarium when it arrives.
• Bonus – Comes with our detailed South African care guide, Alive Arrival Guarantee and free after-sales support – you’ll always have help if you need it.

‘Marciano’ is one of those plants that makes you smile every time you see it. The pink tones shift slightly with the light – sometimes deep raspberry, sometimes a soft peach glow – but always eye-catching. Small, colourful and full of charm, it’s a real gem for any collection.

Quick FAQ

Can I grow it in a terrarium?

  • Yes – it does beautifully in bright artificial light with good airflow. Keep the soil slightly damp, not soaked.

How do I get the best colour out of it?

  • Grow it under full-spectrum LEDs or in bright natural light – the stronger the light, the deeper the pink tones become.
