Sarracenia purpurea Okee Mountain × montana is a seed-grown collector pitcher plant raised from Christian Klein seed. Unlike a division or vegetatively propagated clone, this plant was raised individually from seed, making it a genetically unique combination of its two parent forms.
This young plant is now entering active spring growth and producing its first fresh spring pitchers. As the new pitchers mature and receive strong sunlight, expect the characteristic compact purpurea form with increasingly rich red colouration and prominent contrasting veining.
The cross combines Sarracenia purpurea from Okee Mountain with Sarracenia purpurea subsp. venosa var. montana, bringing together two distinctive mountain-origin forms of the species. As a seed-grown individual, its mature colour, pitcher shape and markings will be unique to this particular plant.
It is supplied established in a Cultivo Rootball Plug™, protecting the established root system and allowing the entire plug to be planted directly into your preferred Sarracenia mix, display pot or outdoor bog with minimal root disturbance.
Like other Sarracenia purpurea, it develops short, sturdy pitchers in a low-growing rosette, with pitchers becoming increasingly substantial as the plant matures. Colour and veining are strongest when grown outdoors in plenty of direct sun.
