Grow your own Japanese sundew from seed!

Drosera tokaiensis (formerly known as D. spatulata var. Kansai) is a beautiful rosette-form sundew native to Japan. It's hardy, compact, fast-growing, and turns a vivid red in bright light.

This species doesn't require a winter dormancy, but may go dormant under colder conditions. It’s an excellent choice for terrariums, windowsills, or sunny outdoor spots in summer.

  • Harvested from acclimatised parent plants
  • Never wild-collected – legally grown and responsibly sourced
  • Viability tested before release
  • No stratification needed before sowing

A digital sowing guide is included with your order. Need the full setup? Our Seed Starter Kit has everything you need. Or get personalised help with a Seed Starting Consultation.

Note: While seeds are tested for germination, final success depends on your setup. Be patient, follow the guide, and enjoy the growing journey!

Restock Alerts
  • Because Cultivo is a boutique-style store, most of our collector’s plants are one-of-a-kind “exact plant pictured” or limited seasonal releases. That means once they’re sold, they’re gone - so standard restock notifications aren’t practical here
  • A few seasonal plants or variants of small-batch releases may return in the future. If that happens, we’ll update the original listing with new photos and details
