🔍 Pure Species · Fat Pitcher Form - A True Collector’s Gem

This is a rare one-of-a-kind offering for serious collectors and species purists - a rooted division of Sarracenia rubra ssp. gulfensis f. fat pitchers, originally imported from Christian Klein in Germany and grown in South Africa since 2018

What makes this plant exceptional is its unusual pitcher shape – thick-bodied traps with elegant red tones that widen dramatically below the lid. This is not your average rubra. It’s a natural form not a hybrid and is perfect for those looking to expand their collection with verified named clones of true Sarracenia species

It thrives in full sun and is fully acclimatised to local growing conditions. In summer expect strong upright pitchers around 18–20cm tall. In winter dormancy it rests as a clean trimmed rhizome storing energy for the season ahead

💬 Quick FAQ

When does it start growing again?
Rubra forms are often the first Sarracenia to wake up in spring. While many other species are still dormant this one sends up its first traps early in the season - usually from early September in SA. Give it full sun and you’ll see new growth in no time!

What can I expect on arrival?
This plant is sent as a healthy trimmed rhizome with visible growth points. Depending on the season it may have few or no pitchers yet - especially after dormancy. With the right care and full sun new traps will grow as the plant settles into its new home.
