- At Cultivo, every release is carefully selected and grown with purpose. We don’t mass restock - most plants are small-batch, seasonal or one-of-a-kind “exact plant pictured” pieces. Once they’re sold, they’re truly gone. That’s why you won’t see a typical “email me when available” option on these listings
- Some seasonal items or small-batch variants may return in the future. If that happens, we’ll update the original listing with new photos and details

Utricularia aff. livida (Marojey, Madagascar) is a rare and unusual terrestrial bladderwort species that produces elegant white and purple bicolour flowers. Native to highland regions of Madagascar, this form is closely related to Utricularia livida, but differs in both leaf shape and flower patterning — making it a subtle gem for collectors.
This plant spreads slowly by forming low mats of foliage. When mature, it sends up delicate flower stalks with soft purple and white blooms that resemble tiny orchids floating just above the soil surface.
This is an original import from Best Carnivorous Plants (Czech Republic), now available in South Africa through Cultivo. You’ll receive a 2cm plug – fully rooted and ready to pot up into your own container.
🌱 How Bladderworts Work
Bladderworts use underground bladder traps to suck in and digest microscopic organisms — one of the fastest trap mechanisms in the plant kingdom. While the magic happens below the surface, these plants are grown for their petite, orchid-like flowers.
🪴 Growing Tips & Care Info
- 🔆 Grow in semi-shade or very bright filtered light
- 🌿 Ideal for carnivorous plant bogs or standalone pots
- 🪴 Pot into our Bladderwort PROmix™ or moist, shredded long-fibre sphagnum moss
- 💦 Tray method: stand pot in 0.5–1cm water (rain, distilled, or RO water)
- 🚿 Keep moist at all times – never allow the soil to dry out
In optimal conditions, this plant will slowly spread and fill the container over several months.
🌸 Flowering Info
Utricularia aff. livida typically blooms during spring and summer. Unlike Venus flytraps and sundews, flowering won’t drain the plant — so let it bloom freely for an extra touch of beauty.
Personally imported and grown out at Cultivo, this plant is fully acclimatised to South African conditions — making it stronger, faster to settle in, and more resilient than freshly imported specimens.
Due to import restrictions, bladderworts are still rare in South African collections. This plug comes from our original BCP import — and is seldom offered at this size and quality.
