Will this be restocked?
  • At Cultivo, every release is carefully selected and grown with purpose. We don’t mass restock - most plants are small-batch, seasonal or one-of-a-kind “exact plant pictured” pieces. Once they’re sold, they’re truly gone. That’s why you won’t see a typical “email me when available” option on these listings
  • Some seasonal items or small-batch variants may return in the future. If that happens, we’ll update the original listing with new photos and details

Product Details

Utricularia 'Nudlinger Flair' is an extremely rare, epiphytic bladderwort hybrid between Utricularia alpina and U. humboldtii — both well-known for their bold growth and spectacular flowers. This exceptional cross combines the best of both parents, producing large, oval-shaped leaves and oversized, orchid-like blooms that make a true statement in any carnivorous plant collection.

Unlike terrestrial bladderworts, epiphytic species like this one naturally grow on mossy surfaces such as rocks, tree bark, or in open terrarium setups. Utricularia 'Nudlinger Flair' thrives in high humidity and bright, filtered light — making it an ideal candidate for large terrariums, grow cabinets, or indoor greenhouse-style environments.

This cultivar is personally imported from Christian Klein in Germany and is rarely available in South Africa. It is grown out and fully acclimatised to local conditions, ready to continue growing in your setup.

🌱 How Bladderworts Work

All bladderworts are carnivorous — they use tiny suction-trap bladders located below the soil or moss surface to catch and digest microscopic organisms. These traps are among the fastest in the plant kingdom and help supplement the plant’s nutrition in nutrient-poor environments.

🪴 Growing Tips & Care Info

  • 🌿 Epiphytic grower – prefers a mossy mount, tree fern slab, or airy potting mix
  • 💧 Requires high humidity and consistent moisture
  • 🔆 Grows best in bright, filtered light (no harsh full sun)
  • 🌱 Use live sphagnum moss, or a mix of sphagnum + orchid bark + perlite
  • 🚿 Keep evenly moist – avoid letting the roots dry out

With the right care, this plant will reward you with impressive foliage and large, showy flowers — a must-have for advanced collectors and terrarium enthusiasts.

Personally imported from Christian Klein in Germany, this specimen is fully grown out and acclimatised at Cultivo — making it far more resilient and easier to grow than freshly imported plants.

Due to its rarity and growth style, epiphytic Utricularia like this are almost never available in South Africa. This is a genuine collector’s item — only a handful of plants are released every couple of years.
