As the largest butterwort species in the world, P. gigantea can reach an impressive ±30 cm across, developing broad, glistening leaves that stay carnivorous throughout the year. Does Pinguicula gigantea go dormant?

No. Unlike many Mexican butterworts, P. gigantea stays carnivorous all year. It may shrink slightly in winter, but it does not form a succulent rosette. This makes it one of the easiest and most consistent Pinguicula species to grow.
