❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to grow a Venus flytrap from seed?
Venus flytraps grown from seed take 2-4 years to reach flowering size (mature plant). You'll see germination in 4-8 weeks, but patience is key! The first year focuses on root development, with visible growth accelerating in year two. Growing from seed is rewarding but requires commitment.

Do Venus flytrap seeds need cold stratification?
No! Our fresh Venus flytrap seeds don't require cold stratification or refrigeration. They're ready to plant immediately. Simply sow on moist carnivorous plant soil, keep humid and provide bright indirect light. This makes them much easier than many other carnivorous plant seeds.

Can you grow Venus flytraps from seed in South Africa?
Absolutely! Venus flytraps grow beautifully from seed in South Africa. Our climate is actually ideal - just provide bright light (avoid harsh midday sun), keep soil moist with rainwater or distilled water and maintain good humidity. Many South African growers have excellent success with seed-grown flytraps.

How many Venus flytrap seeds should I plant?
We recommend planting all 10 seeds to account for natural germination variation. Typically 60-80% will germinate with proper care. Plant them in a small pot or tray and you can separate seedlings once they're large enough to handle (usually after 6-12 months).
